Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala on Tuesday stated that the grand old party of India is not part of the Gupkar Alliance or the People’s Association for Gupkar Declaration, as per ANI report.

The Gupkar alliance was formed by the National Conference, People Democratic Party and other major parties in Kashmir in a bid to safeguard and restore the special status along with article 35A of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Congress issued a memorandum highlighting it’s official stance on the Gupkar Alliance on Monday, and simultaneously launched a scathing attack on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party accusing it of spreading lies, as per ANI report.

Criticising Home Minister Amit Shah, Surjewala said the BJP leader was trying to divert attention by making erroneous and mischievous remarks.

The Congress further stated that instead of resolving the long standing territorial disputes with China and giving befitting replies to Pakistan, the Modi government and Amit Shah was diverting attention by indulging in erroneous rhetoric, as per ANI report.

Surjewala added that the Congress condemned the erroneous rhetoric of the Modi administration and Home Minister Amit Shah, and simultaneously wished to remind Indians that BJP’s strategy towards the Union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh was one of hypocrisy.

The Congress spokesperson emphasised the party was not a part of the Gupkar alliance, highlighting that the party had a glorious history of sacrificing for the betterment of the nation.

In a nine point rebuttal to the charges levelled against them by the BJP, the Congress spokesperson further stated the party would not tolerate questions on India’s integrity, sovereignty and the national flag.

He reminded the Saffron party that it had formed a government with the same PDP it was now attacking. The party also attacked the BJP for releasing infamous terrorists Masood Azad, Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar and others while negotiating a deal with them in Afghanistan.

In it’s nine point scathing rebuttal of Home Minister Amit Shah’s attack on the Congress, the grand old party unloaded on the Bharatiya Janata Party leader, questioning its numerous actions in Kashmir over the years.

Earlier Home Minister Amit Shah had attacked the Congress and other parties in Jammu and Kashmir, saying, “Congress and the Gupkar Gang want to take J&K back to the era of terror and turmoil. They want to take away rights of Dalits, women and tribals that we have ensured by removing Article 370. This is why they’re being rejected by the people everywhere.”

Amit Shah also attacked the Gupkar alliance saying, “Jammu and Kashmir has been, is and will always remain an integral part of India. Indian people will no longer tolerate an unholy ‘global gathbandhan’ against our national interest. Either the Gupkar Gang swims along with the national mood or else the people will sink it.”
