Pakistan domestic
player Zeeshan Malik has been suspended by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday,
October 14, 2021. The 24-year-old batter suspended for violating PCB anti-corruption
code.

Malik known as
an opening batter who bowls part-time off break bowling. He has played for Karachi
Kings and also represented Pakistan in under 19s. In the recently concluded National
T20 Cup where he played for Northern and scored 123 runs in five matches.

However, PCB
has started an investigation against Malik concern to article 4.7.1 in its code
covers a wide ranges of offences, includes corruption and breaking any criminal
law.

Although the
PCB declined to disclose the exact offense for which Malik is being
investigated, the PCB also refused him from taking part in any cricket-related
activity during the course of the investigation.

Malik came in
to limelight in Pakistan when he scored 225 runs at an average of over 50 in the
2016 Under-19 World Cup and become the third highest run getter in that tournament.
He belongs to Rawalpindi district and made his debut in first-class cricket in
2016 for Rawalpindi. Till now, he has played 5 first class seasons. He also played
17 List-A games and 21 T20s.

In
accordance with Article 4.7.1 of the PCB’s Anti-Corruption Code, the
provisional suspension is effective where the PCB decides to accuse a person of
an offense of corruption or considers that there are other exceptional
circumstances where law enforcement agencies act under criminal law arrest a
person.

In cases
where it believes that the integrity of the game could otherwise be seriously
undermined, the PCB has the discretion to suspend a player pending an
Anti-Corruption Tribunal investigation into the said offence.

It further reads, “Any decision to Provisionally Suspend the Participant will be
communicated to the Participant in writing, with a copy sent at the same time
to the ICC and, where applicable, the National Cricket Federation to which the
Participant is affiliated.
