Patiyali assembly constituency has Mamtesh Shakya of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) taking on Neeraj Kishore Mishra of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Nadira Sultan of the Samajwadi Party (SP), Yusuf Pathan of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Mohd. Imran Ali of the Congress this year in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

Mamtesh Shakya had won the Patiyali seat in 2017, when the BJP swept Uttar Pradesh winning 312 of UP’s 403 assembly seats. Shakya had beaten his closest rival Kiran Yadav by over 3,771 votes. Kiran Yadav had contested that election on a SP ticket.

In 2012, the seat was won by Najeeva Khan Zeenat of the SP.

Patiyali falls under Kasganj district and the Etah Lok Sabha constituency, which is made up of five assembly seats. 

Rajveer Singh of the BJP represented Patiyali as a member of Parliament in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Singh defeated Ku. Devendra Singh Yadav from the Samajwadi Party in 2019.

The Patiyali assembly constituency will vote in the third phase of the Uttar Pradesh elections on February 20, 2022, along with 58 other constituencies in 16 districts. Uttar Pradesh will vote in seven rounds, with the last round on March 3. 

Results will be declared on March 10, along with those for elections in four other states, including neighbouring Uttarakhand.
