Patrick Mahomes is a quarterback who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs in the National Football League (NFL). The only quarterback to have thrown over 5,000 yards in both college football and the NFL, Mahomes is quickly becoming a household name in football and is likely to end his career as one of the greats of the game.

Player Bio:

Born on September 17, 1995, Mahomes was initially inclined to play baseball, as his father, Pat, was an MLB pitcher at the time. He played baseball, basketball as well as football in his initial years and believes training as a pitcher and shooting hoops helped him develop his skills as a quarter back.

He committed to play college football at the Texas Tech University. Mahomes was also selected by the Detriot Tigers in the 2014 MLB Draft, but he chose not to sign a baseball contract. 

He established himself as one of the brightest prospects over three successful years of college football, and broke a number of records, including the NCAA FBS record for single-game offence with 819 yards in his third and final year in 2016.

For his performances in 2016, he was given the Sammy Baugh Trophy, given to the country%u2019s top passer every year. He chose to forego his final year of college football and entered the NFL draft in 2017. 

Career highlights and records:

Going into the 2017 Draft, Mahomes was one of the most sought-after talents. He was projected to be among the top picks by most analysts and had a total of 18 private workouts and official team visits.

The Kansas City Chiefs selected him 10th overall in the first round. He signed a $16.42 million contract that year, including a $10,08 million signing bonus. 

He won the Super Bowl LIV, and was the Super Bowl MVP as the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 31-20 in 2019. He is a three-time Pro Bowl, was the NFL Offensive Player of the Year and the NFL Most Valuable Player in 2018, was named in the Second-team All-Pro as well as Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year in 2020.

Overall in the NFL, he has completed 1,114 of the 1,687 passes he has attempted (66%), has 14,152 passing yards and has a passer rating of 108.7.

He has a total of 1,088.9 fantasy points from 46 games over four years at an average of 20.5 per game. His best year was in 2018, when he scored 417.08 fantasy points from 16 games, at an average of 26.1 per game. Last season, he scored 374.4 points from 15 games at an average of 25 per game.
