Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, condemned the latest terrorist attacks in France, including the heinous attack inside a church in Nice, and said that India stands with the country in the fight against terrorism.

In a tweet, he said, “I strongly condemn the recent terrorist attacks in France, including today’s heinous attack in Nice inside a church. “

He added, “Our deepest and heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and the people of France. India stands with France in the fight against terrorism.”

Earlier, European Union leaders, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, expressed solidarity with France and condemned the knife attack in the southern city of Nice that killed three and left several others injured.

In the wake of the attack, France raised its national alert level to ‘urgent’. The assault in Nice becomes the third apparent Jihadist attack in just over a month.

France has been on high alert for terror attacks since the massacre at satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo in January 2015, the trail for the accomplices of which is currently ongoing in Paris.
