Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, April 24, to address panchayats across the country and mark the occasion of Panchayati Raj Diwas, when Panchayati Raj was institutionalised in India through the Constitution (73rd Amendment) Act, 1992.

Security in the region has been beefed up ahead of the PM’s visit, which will take place despite an attack on CISF forces by suspected Pakistani terrorists on Friday, which left two security personnel dead.
