In a recent development, the car in which a teen girl was assaulted in Hyderabad by five including minors has been found from a farmhouse.
According to reports, four of the five accused have been taken into custody. A fifth has yet to be found. The Hyderabad police is likely to seek custody of the accused.
This development comes hours after Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan ordered the Chief Secretary and the police chief to submit a report within two days.
On May 28, a 17-year-old girl was gangraped when she was returning home after a party in the Jubilee Hills area of Hyderabad.
Security footage that has gone viral on social media showed the girl standing with the suspected attackers outside the pub where she met them. The boys had offered to drop her home. Instead, she was assaulted inside a parked car in the city.
Her attackers took turns to rape her while others stood guard outside the car.
The teenage girl, who visited a pub here on May 28 for a daytime party, was gang-raped by five persons, including three juveniles, police had said on June 3. The girl was sexually assaulted in a Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV), police had said.
A press communication from the Soundararajan's press secretary on Sunday said the Governor was deeply anguished over the heinous incident.
"Deeply anguished over this heinous incident, the Hon’ble Governor has ordered for the submission of a detailed report within two days on the issue from the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police," it said.
The K Chandrashekar Rao-led government came under sharp political attack from the opposition BJP and Congress demanding that the TRS dispensation hand over investigation in the case to the CBI to ensure an impartial probe.
