A claim made by Verma in the video that drew a lot of attention and a surge of criticism was that people were made to believe in the concept of poverty and that the ones who lacked resources were underprivileged, referring that both were not true.

She added that she felt “weird” to hear people call the ones on the streets with insufficient clothes as “underprivileged”. “How do you get to decide that someone is underprivileged just because you have more clothes?” she elaborated. “You have been programmed to believe that sources are limited and the people who have less of it are underprivileged, and the people who have more of it are evil people”.
