Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated an infrastructure project in
Pune today. The foundation stone was also laid by
Modi on December 24, 2016. The Pune Metro Rail Project is an attempt to provide
a world-class infrastructure for urban movement in Pune.

According to a
press release, a 12-kilometer stretch of the 32.2-kilometer Pune metro rail
project
was opened.

Trains will run from 8am to 9pm beginning tomorrow with a minimum charge of Rs 10 and a maximum price of Rs 20 per ticket.

“The most awaited
moment is here! Announcing the commercial operations of # PuneMetro on
March 6, 2022, 3 pm onwards,” Pune Metro tweeted.

The metro project is
being built at a total budget of Rs. 11,400 crores. The Prime Minister inaugurated and reviewed the demonstration at the Garware
metro station and took a metro ride from there to the Anandnagar metro
station.

Prime Minister Modi will also lay the foundation stone for various other projects in
Pune. According to the schedule, Modi will also uncover the statue of
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) premises.
The idol is made up of 1.850kg of gunmetal and is about 9.5 feet tall.

Along with the
rejuvenation and pollution abatement of the Mula-Mutha river projects, Modi
will lay the foundation stone and launch many other developmental projects. A
9-kilometer stretch of the river will be rejuvenated at a cost of more than
1,080 crore. This particular project will focus on the work such as river edge
protection, interceptor sewage network, public amenities, boating activity etc.
At a cost of about Rs. 1,470 crores, the Mula-Mutha River pollution abatement
project would be implemented on the “One City, One Operator”
principle. A total of 11 sewage treatment plants with a combined capacity of
roughly 400 MLD will be built as part of this project.

The Prime
Minister will also launch 100 e-buses and an e-bus depot constructed at Baner
in Pune.
