Aam Aadmi Party MLAs in Punjab spent the night at the state Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, reported news agency ANI. It was a part of their sit-in protest against not getting any copy of the draft of the proposed legislation to be tabled in the special session of Punjab Vidhan Sabha against the central farm laws.

Photos showing the MLAs sleeping on sofas and mattresses at the assembly emerged on the internet following their protest. They slammed the Amarinder Singh-led Congress government for not tabling the Bill opposing the farm laws on Monday.

Leader of Opposition and AAP senior leader Harpal Cheema said the special session was called to counter new farm laws but the members had “not been given copies of the bills”, PTI reported.

“Will we get copies of the bills after the session is over,” he asked during the session, as reported by PTI.

Shiromani Akali Dal member Gurpratap Singh Wadala said it seems the state government “does not have clarity” over the issue.

“It seems the state government is under the Centre’s pressure,” senior SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia was quoted as saying, by PTI.

He also accused the state government of playing a “fixed match” with the Centre.
