Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will be getting married to Dr Gurpreet Kaur on Thursday, nearly six years after his last marriage ended. The Aam Aadmi Party politician was previously married to Inderpreet Kaur, who now reportedly lives overseas along with their two children.

News agency ANI reported that it will be a close and private ceremony, which will be hosted at CM Bhagwant Mann’s house on July 7, 2022. Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party’s National convener will be attending the ceremony.

Bhagwant Mann’s mother Harpal Kaur has reportedly picked Dr Gurpreet Kaur to be her daughter-in-law, according to reports from India.com.

Even though not much is known about the wedding or Dr Gurpreet Kaur, multiple media reports suggest that the event will only be attended by close family, friends and senior politicians of the Aam Aadmi Party.

In an interview with former ScoopWhoop anchor Samdish Bhatia, Mann opened up about his personal life and spoke about the “need for a partner” in life.

Responding to a question about “emotional and physical needs”, Mann said with tears in his eyes, “The love of the public makes me forget everything. I am living for them.”

Bhagwant Mann took over as the Punjab Chief Minister in March this year after winning the Assembly elections. Aam Aadmi Party secured 92 out of 117 seats in Punjab.

What about Bhagwant Mann’s previous marriage?

Bhagwant Mann and his first wife Inderpreet Kaur filed for divorce in 2015, which is roughly the same time his political career started to take off. Mann was previously a comedian.

Mann also reportedly wrote a poem about this on his Facebook page, which says that his divorce from Inderpreet Kaur was not motivated by personal issues. He chose Punjab over his family, the Facebook page says.
