Rae Bareli assembly constituency has Dr. Manish Chauhan of the Indian National Congress (INC) taking on Aditi Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Ram Pratap Yadav of the Samajwadi Party (SP), Mohammed Ashraf of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and Gaurav Singh of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) this year in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

Aditi Singh had won the Rae Bareli seat in 2017, when the BJP swept Uttar Pradesh winning 312 of UP’s 403 assembly seats. Singh had beaten her closest rival Mohammed Shahbaz Khan by over 89,163 votes. Khan had contested that election on a BSP ticket. Singh had contested that election on a Congress ticket.

In 2012, the seat was won by Akhilesh Kumar Singh of the PECP.

Rae Bareli falls under the Rae Bareli district and the Rae Bareli Lok Sabha constituency, which is made up of five assembly seats. 

Sonia Gandhi of the INC represented Rae Bareli as a member of Parliament in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Gandhi defeated Dinesh Pratap Singh from the BJP with a margin of 1,67,178 votes. 

The Rae Bareli assembly constituency will vote in the fourth phase of the Uttar Pradesh elections on February 23, 2022, along with 59 other constituencies in nine districts. Uttar Pradesh will vote in seven rounds, with the last round on March 3. 

Results will be declared on March 10, along with those for elections in four other states, including neighbouring Uttarakhand.
