The Rajasthan High Court will hear the plea by BJP MLA seeking stay on merger of six Bahujan Samaj Party MLAs into the Congress Party on Thursday.

The Supreme Court on August 11, while hearing a petition filed by BSP and BJP seeking stay on the merger, directed the case to Rajasthan High Court. The apex court directed the single bench of Justice Mahendra Goyal to continue hearing on the original petition.

The court accepted the application of the Indian National Congress and Congress chief whip Mahesh Joshi to implead it in the case as it is an affected party in the case.

BSP counsel Satish Misra opposed Congress party’s application for implead to the petition and said that Congress is adopting delay tactics by trying to become a party to the petition.

They argued that the former BSP MLAs are now part of the Congress legislative party and the petition pertains to their merger with the Congress and the court accepted it.

Sandeep Yadav, Wajib Ali, Deepchand Kheria, Lakhan Meena, Jogendra Awana and Rajendra Gudha contested and won the 2018 assembly elections on BSP tickets.

They all defected to the Congress in September 2019.
