Rajasthan Royals have fired their social media team, hours after captain Sanju Samson expressed unhappiness over his edited image being shared on the franchise’s official Twitter handle.

“Everything is well within the squad ahead of the first game as the boys prepare for SRH. The management will revisit our overall digital strategy and appoint a new team in due course,” the statement said.

“We realise that it is the IPL season and fans want the account to post updates regularly. We will find temporary solutions in the interim,” the statement added.

On Friday, an edited image of the 27-year-old cricketer with some glittery filters was shared on Twitter with the caption, “Kya khoob lagta ho.”

Samson took offense of it and took to Twitter to express his unhappiness, writing, “Its ok for friends to do all this but teams should be professional..” He also unfollowed RR’s official Twitter handle.

Sanju Samson will be leading RR for the second season in a row after being retained by the franchise for Rs. 15 crores. He made his debut with the team in 2013 and over the years has proved himself as a dependable player.

Earlier this week, legendary Sri Lanka cricketer and head coach of Rajasthan Royals, Kumar Sangakkara, hailed the wicketkeeper-batter as “one of the best T20 players.”

“Irrespective of him being the captain or the future of RR, he is one of the best T20 players,” he said.

“He is a magnificent player, destructive, match-winner, has every ability that you want in a batter. He was captain before I took over last season. I have come to know him really well and admire him. He’s got such a passion for RR. He started here, he values that. He is a captain who is willing to admit that he doesn’t know everything as yet and he is going to grow into it. He’s got natural leadership qualities. He’s going to get better and better.”
