Yoga guru Ramdev has been at the centre of the controversy that erupted over his comments on western medicine and doctors. Amid this stir, he took to social media on Saturday and shared an old video from  Bollywood actor Aamir Khan’s show ‘Satyamev Jayate’. In the short video clip, Dr Samit Sharma is seen discussing the high prices of medicine, available in the market.

The doctor can be heard saying, “The original price of the medicine is pretty low. More than 40 crore people fail to afford even food twice a day for themselves in India. Can they buy those overpriced medicines?

This Twitter post of Ramdev came when Indian Medical Association, Uttrakhand served a defamation notice to the Yog guru for his remarks against allopathy and its practitioners. The notice demanded an apology from him within 15 days or compensation of Rs 1,000 crore, if he fails to do so.

While sharing the 2012 video, Ramdev challenged the “medical mafia” to take action against the actor.

The war of words between Ramdev and the Indian Medical Association has been going on for the past few days, soon after Ramdev spoke against allopathy and also said, “lakhs have died from taking allopathic medicines for COVID-19.”

The IMA has challenged the experts from Patanjali Yogpeeth to come and debate on allopathy. Along with various complaints against Ramdev, the Federation of Residents Doctor’s Association has announced a nationwide protest on June 1 against him.
