The Rampur assembly constituency will see Nawab Kazim Ali Khan of the Indian National Congress (INC) take on Aakash Saxena of the BJP, Mohammad Azam Khan of the Samajwadi Party (SP), and Sadaqat Hussain of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in the Uttar Pradesh (UP) Assembly elections.
Dr Tazeen Fatima of the SP had won the seat in the 2019 by-elections in the state by defeating the Bharat Bhushan of the BJP by a margin of 7,716 votes, two years after the SP’s Mohammad Azam Khan won the seat in the 2017 Assembly elections by defeating Shiv Bahadur Saxena of the BJP by a margin of 46,842 votes.

In the 2012 Assembly election, Mohammad Azam Khan had also won the seat by defeating the INC’s Dr Tanveer Ahmad Khan by a margin of 63,269 votes.
The Rampur assembly constituency falls under the Rampur district in UP and is one of the five assembly constituencies under the Rampur Lok Sabha constituency.

The Rampur assembly constituency has been dominated by the SP, namely, by its candidate Mohammad Azam Khan, since 2002 and is held to be a SP stronghold.
The Rampur assembly constituency will vote in the second phase of the UP Assembly elections in 2022 on February 14, when 55 assembly seats, spread across nine districts, will go to the polls. UP is voting in seven phases, and the last phase will be held on March 3.

Results will be declared on March 10, along with results of elections being held in other states and Union Territories (UTs).
