While Bollywood duo Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s wedding today appears to be packed with fun, laughs and joy, it also serves as an emotional life event for the Kapoor clan, who deeply misses the groom’s father, Rishi Kapoor.

“We are all so happy that they are getting married today. It is a very happy and joyous moment for us. To be honest, everyone is emotional today as well,” veteran actor Randhir Kapoor told HT in a recent interview.

“It is a big day for the family, and Chintu (Rishi Kapoor) should have been here. We miss him every day, but today we are missing him more. But life goes on. It is nice to see Ranbir and Alia are starting this new chapter,” the 75-year-old said.

Randhir’s comments on the wedding come days after he denied having any details about the intimate wedding ceremony.

“I haven’t met anyone for the past one week. I was not well, and was at home only. Now, I have been told to go to their house for the wedding, and only after reaching the venue, I will be discussing the reception with the family,” he told HT.

Remembering his sibling again, Kapoor added, “Hope Rishi would have been here to witness this moment. I am missing him so much today.”

Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor succumbed to a years-long battle with leukemia on April 30, 2020.

As the wedding celebrations of Ranbir Kapoor (Rishi Kapoor’s son) began, Neetu Kapoor (Rishi Kapoor’s wife) hennaed her late husband’s name on her palm.

On the morning of Alia and Ranbir’s Mehendi ceremony, Neetu Kapoor shared an old image with Rishi Kapoor on Instagram. “Fond memories of Baisakhi day (love eyes emoji) as we got engaged 43 years back on 13th April 1979,” she captioned a photo from their engagement day.
