Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the ongoing Test series against England. He was ruled out of the final Test against Australia in Brisbane after dislocating his finger in the previous Test and was sent to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for ‘further management of his injury’.

Before the squad for the first two Tests against England was announced, Jadeja was expected to recover his fitness to feature in the third and fourth Tests. According to a report by Cricbuzz, he would have also gone to Ahmedabad for early quarantine to join the squad. However, his recovery is taking longer than expected and there is no way he will be fit for the remainder of the Test series. It is also not clear whether he will play the ODI matches against England.

With Jadeja unfit and Shahbaz Nadeem’s performance in the first Test dividing opinions, the team management could turn to someone else. Kuldeep Yadav is one such contender to be drafted in the playing XI for the second Test.

Captain Virat Kohli also hinted towards that possibility in the post match press conference after they lost their first Test to England by 227 runs, an emphatic win for the visitors.

“There are no regrets whatsoever on that decision. Moving forward, we will think of the combinations which bring us variety as a bowling attack, and not one dimensional, turning away from the bat,” the India captain said in reply to a query on Kuldeep.

Kuldeep has not played much cricket in the recent months, being in the bio-bubble for nearly six months now, and has just played five IPL games and couple of tour games in Australia.
