In
a landmark achievement, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has become the first central
bank in the world with one million followers on Twitter.

RBI
has emerged as the most popular central bank on Twitter, beating the US Federal
Reserve, the world’s most powerful central bank and European Central Bank.

As
per the latest information, the number of followers of the Rbi’s twitter handle
‘@RBI’ has increased from 9.66 lakh on September 27, 2020 to one million or 10
lakh.

“RBI Twitter account reaches one million
followers today. A new milestone. Congratulations to all my colleagues in RBI,”
Governor Shaktikanta Das said in a tweet on Sunday.

from its official Twitter handle, RBI works on another account called ‘RBI
Says’. It has also started a Facebook page with the same name in April. During
the same time, it launched a customer awareness campaign to prevent naïve account
holders from being duped.
