Businessman Anand Mahindra has the perfect advertising template for Serum Institute of India (SII) CEO Adar Poonawala to promote the Covishield vaccine – a parody ad for the Pfizer vaccine.

First shared on the American talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the parody video has gone viral on social media and has caught the attention of a few prominent Indian personalities, including Mahindra and actor Nafisa Ali Sodhi.

Mahindra posted the video on his Twitter account, and suggested Poonawala has a “readymade advertising brief”. 

“Hilarious. @adarpoonawalla You have a readymade advertising brief. Vaccines are forever…” he tweeted.

Poonawala’s Pune-based firm SII is manufacturing Covishield, the vaccine jointly developed AstraZeneca and Oxford University. 

Sodhi shared the video on her Instagram, where she called it “What a  great add”.

In the video, a man proposes to his girlfriend with a vial of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine instead of a ring. “Don’t just be her somebody, be her antibody,” the advertisement suggests, before saying “Inoculate yourself… with love.”
