Heavy rains wreaked havoc in several districts in Andhra Pradesh, leaving over 17 people dead and 18 others missing. Rail, road, and air traffic have been severely hit by the incessant rains and massive floods in the state. Several water bodies in Chittoor and Nellore districts are overflowing, leaving hundreds of villages marooned and many residents stuck in their houses.

Here are the latest updates on the Andhra Pradesh floods: 

1. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday conducted an aerial survey of affected areas and reviewed the flood situation with the local authorities. 

2. At least 12 people died and 18 others went missing after three buses of Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) were stuck in floods in Kadapa district on Friday.

3. Five people died in the Anantapur district on Friday night after an old three-story building collapsed due to heavy rains. The deceased included three children and an elderly woman. Over 4 people are still trapped in the rubble as of Saturday morning.

4. Tirupati is one of the worst affected places with the Swarnamukhi river going into spate that the reservoirs getting full and overflowing. Ghat road and walkways to the Tirumala Hills have been temporarily closed.

5. Four teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and nine teams of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed in Kadapa to help with search and rescue operations. Kadapa airport will also remain closed till November 25.

6. 230 relief camps have been set up across various districts and food, water packets and rice are being distributed to the affected people.

7. Financial assistance of Rs 1,000 per person or Rs 2,000 per family has been offered to those who have been moved into relief camps.
