Pakistani cricketer Inzamam-ul-Haq made an eye-catching
statement in which he mentioned Rishabh Pant’s game in the 2nd
ODI against England. He senses that Pant can overtake MS Dhoni and Adam
Gilchrist in the game if he continues his game in the same form.

Rishabh Pant has been compared to MS Dhoni and Adam Gilchirst
since the time he started playing international cricket. Dhoni and Gilchrist
have been regarded as the finest wicketkeepers ever to play the gentlemen’s game.
They are known for their attacking gameplays, reflexes and fast hands behind
the stumps.

Pant still has a long way to improve as a wicket keeper but has
shown signs of him going the distance. His batting skills have shown an
outstanding form since the Australia tour 2020/21. He scored 70 off 40 balls in
the second ODI against England held on Friday in Pune. His innings stimulated
the score in the end overs, after KL Rahul’s century and Virat Kohli’s half
century.

Inzamam said that he has been following Pant for the 6-7 months
and say that he had been batting effectively at different positions and it was
Pant who stimulated the run rate in the ODI by scoring 77 off 40 against
England.

He further gave an opinion on how he had seen only Dhoni and
Gilchrist in the last 30 to 35 who could change a match. He said that Rishabh
could move ahead of them in the league if he maintained his form and is not far
behind them.

Despite fireworks from Pant, Rahul, and even Hardik Pandya’s 35
off 16 balls, India posted 336-6 in the second ODI only to lose the clash to
England by 6 wickets, with more than six overs to play. The visitors’ run-chase
was led by Jonny Bairstow (124) and attacking half-centuries from Jason Roy and
Ben Stokes (99).

Despite of the extra ordinary batting from Pant, Rahul and Pandya
India lost the second ODI to England by 6 wickets. England’s Jonny Bairstow and
Jason Roy led the team to victory by scoring 124 and 99 each.
