Five Indian players have gone into isolation after a video emerged of them eating at indoor restaurant in Melbourne, said Cricket Australia in a statement on Saturday.

The five players are vice-captain Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Prithvi Shaw Navdeep Saini and Shubman Gill. An investigation has been launched to determine if it’s breach of bio-security protocol.

Although the players have been separated from the Indian and Australian squads, according to the statement, they will still train “in accordance with the strict protocols that have been put in place to ensure the ongoing safety of all members of the Indian and Australian squads.”

The statement read, “The BCCI and CA are investigating the matter and seeking to determine whether the outing constitutes a breach of biosecurity protocols.”

It added, “In the interim, on the advice of the Australian and Indian medical teams, the aforementioned players have been placed in isolation as a precaution. This will include separating the group of players from the broader Indian and Australian squads when traveling and at the training venue.”

A fan named Navaldeep Singh had shared a video of the players eating at an indoor restaurant in Melbourne on Twitter.

According to biosecurity rules, players and staff are permitted to leave the hotel but must dine outdoors during the Melbourne leg of the tour.
