Former
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav on Wednesday tested positive
for COVID-19.

“Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav ji is currently being treated by doctors after his positive coronavirus test. He is asymptomatic,” Samajwadi Party tweeted. 

The 80-year-old was admitted to a Lucknow hospital for urinary tract infection in August. At the time, he tested negative for the novel coronavirus.  

On Monday, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur tested positive for coronavirus. 

Other prominent political leaders to contract the virus include Home Minister Amit Shah, Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Culture and Tourism Minister Prahlad Singh Patel, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, among others.
