Veteran actor Shabana Azmi took to Twitter on Thursday to say that she was conned in an online cash scam.
The 70-year-old actor initially accused the alcohol delivery platform, Living Liquidz, of duping her but later said that fraudsters “who had nothing to do with the company” had cheated her.
“BEWARE I have been cheated by them. #Living Liquidz I paid upfront and when the ordered item didnt turn up they stopped picking up my calls,” Azmi tweeted on Thursday morning, sharing details of her transaction with the delivery platform.
Later in the day, she wrote, “Finally traced the owners of @living_liquidz & it turns out that the people who cheated me are fraudsters who have nothing to do with Living Liquidz! I urge @mumbaipolice and @cybercrime to take action to stop these crooks from using names of legitimate businesses & scamming us.”
The actor, however, didn’t mention the amount of the transaction. It was also unclear if she has filed a complaint in the matter.
In the past, Bollywood celebrities including Akshaye Khanna, Nargis Fakhri and Karan Singh Grover fell prey to online scams.
