Shikhar
Dhawan
of India and the Punjab Kings will be aiming for a major achievement
when his team faces the Chennai Super Kings in Match 38 of the Indian Premier
League 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Dhawan only needs two runs to
reach 6,000 in the IPL. Only Virat Kohli has scored 6,000 or more runs in the T20
cricket tournament. So far in his IPL career, the former Royal Challengers
Bangalore captain has scored 6,402 runs (215 matches).

Dhawan has
scored 5,998 runs in 201 matches, averaging slightly over 34. He also has two
centuries and 45 fifties to his name. Next on the list are Rohit Sharma
(5,725), David Warner (5,668), and Suresh Raina (5,528).

Dhawan, who
was purchased by PBKS for Rs 8.25 crore at the mega auction, has made 214 runs
in seven matches this season. PBKS is eighth in the standings, having won three
and lost four games so far.

The player
has been in and out of the Indian team over the past two years, and he was not
selected for the T20 World Cup last year. Speaking on his future with the
Indian squad, Dhawan stated that the door is always open, and it all depends on
the individual’s performance.

Dhawan has proven to be one of the most destructive Indian batters in the T20 game this season, and former England spinner Graeme Swann has said that the veteran Punjab Kings batsman is in the ‘form of his life.’

“He’s clearly in the best shape of his life.” In the TATA IPL, he’s been enjoying a pink suit gear dog. “I mean, he’s Mr. IPL (to me), and I love seeing him bat like that every minute,” Swann remarked on Star Sports.

During the
opening of the Shikhar Dhawan Foundation, the seasoned hitter told NDTV – “If
you perform well, the doors are always open. The call lies with selectors, I am
enjoying my journey. I have been performing well and I am enjoying my cricket”
