The 28-year-old was shot dead on Sunday evening, a day after the state government withdrew his security cover. He was travelling along with his two friends in a jeep when he was shot in Punjab's Mansa district. He was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Initial investigation revealed the killing to be an inter-gang rivalry, Punjab state's top police official VK Bhawra said in a press conference.
An autopsy revealed that the singer's right elbow was broken due to bullet injuries and that he had sustained maximum bullets on his chest and abdomen.
Meanwhile, Canada-based Goldy Brar has claimed the responsibility for the murder of Moose Wala.
"I, along with Sachin Bishnoi Dhattaranwali, Lawrence Bishnoi group, take responsibility for the killing of Sidhu Moose Wala. His name came up in connection with the murder of Vicky Middukhera and Gurlal Brar and despite this, the police did nothing," Brar allegedly wrote in a Facebook post.

They were reportedly returning from Hemkund Sahib, a Himalayan Sikh shrine located in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district.
Meanwhile, the mortal remains of the singer will be kept at the Civil Hospital mortuary and the cremation will be done on Tuesday morning, Mansa deputy commissioner Jaspreet Singh said.
