Sikandra assembly constituency has Ajit Pal of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) taking on Naresh Candra of the Indian National Congress (INC), Lal Ji of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Prabhakar Pandey of the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Neeraj of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) this year in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

Mathura Prasad Pal had won the Sikandra seat in 2017, when the BJP swept Uttar Pradesh winning 312 of UP’s 403 assembly seats. Pal had beaten his closest rival Mahendra Katiyar by over 38,000 votes. Mahendra Katiyar had contested that election on a BSP ticket.

In 2012, the seat was won by Indrapal Singh of the BSP. 

Sikandra falls under Kanpur Dehat district and the Etawah Lok Sabha constituency.

The Sikandra assembly constituency will vote in the third phase of the Uttar Pradesh elections on February 20, 2022, along with 57 other constituencies in 11 districts. Uttar Pradesh will vote in seven rounds, with the last round on March 3. 

Results will be declared on March 10, along with those for elections in four other states, including neighbouring Uttarakhand.
