When Delhi Metro services will resume on September 7 after a gap of five months, passengers will need to adhere to strict guidelines. Apart from wearing masks and social distancing, one of the major changes will be in the ticketing system. There will be token system and passengers will have to use smart cards only when the Metro restarts next month.

Passengers will also have to undergo thermal screening before they are allowed to board the Metro, Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot said.

“We will ensure that social distancing is maintained in the metros. Thermal screening of passengers will be done at the entry. No tokens will be issued, smart cards other digital methods of payment will be used,” ANI quoted Gahlot, as saying.

Also, there are reports that Delhi Metro has decided not to open all stations on September 7. Stations will be opened for public in a gradual manner.

The Centre, on Saturday, had allowed resumption of Metro services as it announced Unlock 4 guidelines. Social gatherings limited to 100 persons have also been allowed.

However, schools, colleges, educational and coaching institutions will remain closed for students till September 30, with some relaxations for students of classes 9 to 12, PTI reported.
