In a video statement released yesterday, BJP MLA Madan Dilawar alleged that some ‘so-called farmers’ had joined the ongoing Farmers’ Protests, ANI reported.

According to him, these could be ‘thieves’ or ‘terrorists’ who do not have the best interests of the aggrieved farmers, or even the country, in mind. They are only at the protest sites to enjoy delicacies such as ‘chicken biryani’, according to Madan, which poses a risk for the bird flu to be spread.

In his statement he also called upon the current government to remove these ‘enemies of farmers’ to prevent the bird flu scare from becoming a ‘big problem’.

The Rajasthan MLA’s statements created quite a stir on social media on Saturday, as several leaders from the opposition condemned his statement, considering his words to be representative of BJP’s ideology.

“It is shameful for Rajasthan BJP MLA Madan Dilawar to use words like militant, robber for farmers,” Rajasthan Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra wrote in a tweet.

Farmers from Punjab and Haryana have been protesting against the recently passed Farm Laws for over a month now, at various borders of the national capital.
