Actor Sonu Sood, who recently recovered from the COVID-19 infection, arranged for a 25-year-old COVID patient, to be airlifted from Nagpur to Hyderabad. The 25-year-old critically ill COVID patient, Bharti, has lost over 85% of her lungs due to coronavirus infection, media reports say.
Sonu Sood, who has been helping people in crisis during the pandemic, helped in getting her shifted to a private hospital in Nagpur, and then, he arranged for the patient to be airlifted after doctors suggested that she needs a lung transplant.
According to a report in News18, Bharti will be treated by ECMO in Hyderabad’s Apollo Hospital. In ECMO’s treatment, blood is artificially pumped into the body to divert the pressure away from the lungs for the same.

Sonu Sood said, quoted News18 report, “Doctors said the chances are 20 percent and asked me if I still wanted to go ahead with it. I said ‘of course’.”
“She is a 25-year-old young girl and will fight the battle hard and come out of it stronger. That’s why we took this chance and decided to get an air ambulance. The treatment is going well in and we hope for the best,” the actor said, News18 report quotes.
The 47-year-old actor came under the national spotlight for helping migrants in reaching their home states during the nationwide lockdown last year. Sonu Sood has said he would continue working for those in need.
