Mohammed
Shami
has been in fantastic form in the ongoing three-match Test series in South
Africa
. He is currently India’s highest wicket-taker with 11 wickets in two
Tests, trailing behind South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada (13) and Marco Jansen (12).
As both sides are heading into the third and final Test, Shami, who became only the fifth Indian pacer to take 200 Test wickets in Centurion, will stand a chance to become the fifth Indian bowler and second pacer after Javagal Srinath to take 50 Test wickets against South Africa.

If he
achieves the feat at Newlands, Shami will join the exclusive club of cricketers
like Anil Kumble, Srinath, Harbhajan Singh and Ravichandran Ashwin.

While
Kumble took 84 Test wickets against South Africa, Srinath bagged 64. Harbhajan
and Ashwin have 60 and 56 Test wickets against South Africa, respectively.

against Australia.

Kohli on
the verge of breaking Dravid’s tally

Meanwhile,
India’s captain Virat Kohli is also on the verge of breaking a record. Kohli,
who missed the second Test due to an injury, will be back to lead India in Cape
Town on Tuesday. Nevertheless, Kohli’s return to the side will boost India’s
chances of winning their maiden Test series in South Africa. The series is currently levelled at 1-1.
