Bharatiya Kisan Union (Arajnaitik) leader Rakesh Tikait on Wednesday attended a farmers ‘mahapanchayat’ in Haryana’s Jind district to garner support for the ongoing farmers’ protest. During the gathering, the stage on which he, along with several other farmer leaders were standing on collapsed.

The congregation was held at Jind’s Kandela village with several khap leaders in attendance and was organised by the Sarv Jatiya Kandela Khap headed by Tekram Kandela.

Farmer unions have called for a nationwide ‘chakka jam’ on February 6 to protest against the suspension of internet at Delhi’s borders and the alleged harassment they have faced. They will block national and state highways for three hours, from 12 pm to 3 pm.
