Australian batsman and former captain Steve Smith said on
Tuesday that he would love for Sydney to host the third Test against India
during new years, despite the city battling the pandemic currently, AFP
reported.
With the largest city in the country recently sealed off
after several cases were discovered in a cluster in order to keep it separated
from the rest of the virus-free nation, probabilities of the third Test

Smith,
however, trusted further guidance on experts.
In
case of the third Test happening in Sydney, transportation to Brisbane might
turn out to be a challenge, as post-discovery of the COVID-19 cases, Queensland
closed off its borders with Sydney.
Options
have started floating up as possible alternatives to the Sydney Test, with Melbourne,
host to the second Test, having a possibility to host the next one as well.

Otherwise,
the teams could return to Adelaide for the match, where Australia won the
opening game by eight wickets in a row and the visitors hit their all-time low
in terms of Test scores.
Australia
currently lead the series 1-0, after the aforementioned collapse led to the
Indian batting line-up getting demolished within 36 runs, setting the bar
comfortably low for the Aussies who did not make any mistakes in finishing the
contest off with ease.
