Although Indian stock indexes recovered in the late morning session, the Sensex and Nifty were trading mixed due to negative inputs from other Asian markets.

On the global front, Asian markets were mostly in the red, with the Straits Times down 3.72 points or 0.11% to 3,233.36, the Hang Seng down 245.40 points or 0.98% to 24,705.94, the Taiwan Weighted down 80.38 points or 0.45% to 17,723.16, the KOSPI down 13.93 points or 0.46% to 2,999.32, and the Jakarta Composite down 34.89 points or 0.52% to 6,688.50.

The BSE Sensex is presently trading at 58420.51, down 45.38 points or 0.08% from a high of 58472.36 and a low of 57718.34. On the index, there were 18 stocks that advanced and 12 stocks that declined.

The wider indexes were trading in the green, with the BSE Mid-cap index up 1.32% and the Small-cap index up 1.29%.
Metal was up 3.55%, Realty was up 2.09%, Utilities was up 1.99%, Basic Materials was up 1.96%, and PSU was up 1.67% on the BSE, while IT was down 0.28%, Energy was down 0.26%, TECK was down 0.12%, and Bankex was down 0.02%.

Tata Steel, Power Grid, Sun Pharma, Bharti Airtel, and Nestle were the top gainers on the Sensex, up 3.42%, 2.93%, 1.43%, 1.22%, and 1.19%, respectively. The biggest losers were IndusInd Bank, which fell 2.19%, Asian Paints, which fell 1.63%, Infosys, which fell 1.29%, Reliance Industries, which fell 0.66%, and ICICI Bank, which fell 0.64%.

The CNX Nifty is presently trading at 17437.45, up 20.90 points or 0.12% after fluctuating between 17216.10 and 17449.00. On the index, there were 37 stocks that advanced and 13 stocks that declined.

JSW Steel gained 4.67%, Coal India 3.55%, Tata Steel 3.36%, Power Grid 2.81%, and Hindalco 2.22% on Nifty. The biggest losers were IndusInd Bank, which fell 2.18%, Asian Paints, which fell 1.64%, Infosys, which fell 1.29%, Reliance Industries, which fell 0.73%, and ICICI Bank, which fell 0.59%.
