Suspended Uttar Pradesh police inspector Vinay Tiwari who has been accused of tipping-off gangster Vikas Dubey before a raid that killed eight UP policemen has been arrested. Vinay Tiwari was in charge of the Chaubeypur police station which has jurisdiction over Dubey’s village in Kanpur. K K Sharma, a sub-inspector in the same police station has also been arrested. 

Senior Superintendent of Police (Kanpur) Dinesh Kumar Prabhu told PTI that both the policemen have also been arrested on charges of fleeing the encounter site and putting the lives of other policemen in danger. 68 policemen posted at the Chaubeypur police station were removed and sent to police lines earlier. 

Three other members close to Dubey were arrested today from Faridabad by the Haryana Police. “The Haryana Police have arrested three men, Kartike alias Prabhat, Ankur and Shravan in Faridabad. Two government police pistol of 9mm caliber, two pistols & 45 live rounds were recovered from them. We will take them into custody,” UP ADG law and order Prashant Kumar said.

On July 3 the gangster and his men shot dead deputy superintendent of police, three sub-inspectors and four constables near Kanpur. UP police on Wednesday raised the bounty on Dubey from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.
