Indore was awarded the title of India’s cleanest city for the fourth consecutive time in the Swachh Survekshan 2020. Chattisgarh got the title of the cleanest state for the second time. The Swachh Survey awards were announced by Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri at a virtual ceremony. The 2020 survey covered a total of 4242 cities, 62 Cantonment Boards and 92 Ganga Towns. Swachh Sarvekshan is an extensive sanitation survey across major Indian cities to check the progress and impact of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan launched in 2014.
