The Indian cricket team started their ICC men’s T20 World Cup campaign with a 10-wicket defeat against arch-rivals Pakistan on October 24. Ahead of the New Zealand clash, India will be hoping to rectify the problem areas that came to the fore in the Pakistan clash.

As for New Zealand, they, too, lost their campaign opener to Pakistan by 5 wickets. The Kane Williamson-led team failed to capitalise with both the batt and bowl, giving in easily. As they take on India a couple of days later on October 31, here are five NZ players that can make a dent in the encounter and help their team win the match.

Martin Guptill

The right-handed batsman has always been known as a big striker of the ball. Irrespective of the format, Guptill has more often than not given his team a solid start. His fast hands with the willow and ability to take the attack to the bowler make him a solid batter.

He has played 103 T20Is and scored 2956 runs. His highest score was 105. He averages 32.13 and has a strike rate of 136.34. Guptill also has 2 centuries to his name and 17 half-centuries under his belt.

Kane Williamson

Kane Williamson needs no introduction. The NZ captain has always led his team nonchalantly and never have allowed the game to break his calm and composed nature. With the ability to hit the accelerator at the right time, it doesn’t take the right-handed batsman to turn the tide in his team’s favour.

He has played 68 T20Is and scored 1830 runs. His highest score was 95. He averages 31.55 and has a strike rate of 124.57. Williamson has 13 half-centuries under his belt.

Devon Conway

A solid player with the bat in hand, Devon Conway is also a live wire on the field. His ability to strike the ball big and score runs easily, makes him a worthy inclusion in the playing XI.

He has played 15 T20Is and has scored 500 runs. His highest was an unbeaten 99. He averages 55.55 and boasts a dangerous strike rate of 55.74. He has four half-centuries under his belt.

Micthell Santner

A bowling all-rounder, Mitchell Santner is a match-winner. A worthy bowler to have in the playing XI, Santner can also turn up the heat with his batting skills. He is known to strike the ball big in crunch situations, scoring quick runs.

In the 53 T20Is, Santner has picked up 61 wickets, his best being 4/11. He has a healthy economy rate of 7.40 and has 2 four-wicket hauls to his name. As for his batting, He has played 53 T20Is and has scored 341 runs. His highest was an unbeaten 37. He averages 14.82 and has a strike rate of 126.76.

Ish Sodhi

Ish Sodhi has been New Zealand’s go-to man for a long time now. He always delivers and gives his captain a wicket, whenever he is asked. Apart from bowling wicket-taking deliveries, he also manages in keeping the opposition quiet.

In the 58 T20Is, Sodhi has picked up 75 wickets, his best being 4/28. He has an economy rate of 9.04 and has 2 four-wicket hauls under his belt.
