Popular Tamil director and cinematographer KV Anand breathed his last at around 3 am today, after suffering a massive cardiac arrest, according to his publicist Riaz Ahmed. He was 54.

Soon after his death, Fans and members of the Tamil film industry have been tweeting in condolence.

The former photojournalist worked mainly in the Tamil Film Industry. 

He won the National Film Award for Best Cinematography for his debut film as a cinematographer, ‘Thenmavin Kombath’. In 2005, Anand turned film director with the critically acclaimed ‘Kana Kandaen’.
