Tamil superstar Ajith was among the early voters but that’s not why he is trending all over social media but because the actor was seen in a video taking away the phone from a fan who was apparently not wearing a mask and was trying to take a selfie.
Tamil Nadu votes today in a single phase for 234 assembly constituencies.

The 49-year-old Ajith along with his wife arrived at a polling booth in the Chennai neighbourhood of Thiruvanmiyur this morning. In a video footage, which has gone viral, a fan who was not wearing a mask came too close to Ajith to take a selfie with the actor. Ajith, seemingly irritated, snatched the phone away from the unmasked fan. The actor, who is lovingly referred to as ‘Thala’, is believed to have returned the phone to the man after schooling him on the COVID-19 precautions.
The video, however, has the social media divided. Many on Twitter are praising the actor for refusing a selfie with someone not following COVID-19 protocol. Many have also tweeted in favour of the actor saying that he be given space at least while voting.
But there were some who found the actor’s act as arrogant
