Tamilisai Soundararajan was on Thursday sworn in as Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, reported ANI. Her new position comes as an additional responsibility, as she is already the Lt Governor of Telangana. Soundararajan was sworn in in the presence of Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy.

The recent development comes after Kiran Bedi was removed from the position on Tuesday, following a continuing power feud between her and Narayanasamy.

Narayanasamy has been accusing Bedi of halting development plans and even took part in a four-day protests in the UT that saw support from other opposition parties and senior leaders of alliance partners CPI, CPI(M), VCK.  During the rallies, protestors were seen carrying posters and placards, reading “Go Back Bedi” and “Bedi you go go”.

Times Now quoted Puducherry Social Welfare Minister Kandasamy saying, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Puducherry L-G Kiran Bedi have been harassing the Congress government for four and a half years. They are trying to dissolve the regime. We are working to dissolve the cabinet headed by CM Narayanasamy and win the assembly elections again.”

Several Congress legislators  such as A John Kumar and Malladi Krishna Rao have resigned in Puducherry ahead of the assembly elections in the UT.
