As Nirmala Sitharaman presented the budget for the Fiscal Year 2021-22, experts and politicians took the opportunity to analyse and criticise the proposals. However, the citizens for whom the budget is prepared- the ‘Aam Aadmi’ of the country, were posting their opinions and reactions on Twitter, mostly through memes.

The complicated financial budgeting can get difficult for the common people to decode. However, netizens reacted to this chaos and confusion the way they usually do – with a lot of humour.

The budget can be very complicated to understand. However, the importance of understanding it, especially at a time when the economy has been hit hard by the pandemic, stands undebated. Journalists and experts try their best to decode the Finance Minister’s proposals for the common people to understand but, it hardly helps. Most of the time, people, without any sense of civic awareness, think it is not important to know how the country’s money is used for development. Even when they do try to understand, it remains incomprehensible. So despite the hilarious memes, it is important to be aware of civic duties and take active steps to know and understand the budget.
