Indian athletes did not win a medal on day 9 of the Paralympic Games in Tokyo. The team’s medal tally stands at 10 with 2 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze. Team India is now at the 36th spot on the table.

India’s Day 10 at the Paralympics starts with women’s doubles badminton. Then the para-athletes will participate in shooting, swimming and canoe sprint. Praveen Kumar will compete in men’s high jump T64. Shuttlers Tarun Dhillon, Suhas Yathiraj and Manoj Sarkar will also be in action.

On Thursday, Arvind Arvind ended seventh in the men’s shot put F35 event of the Paralympics here on Thursday. Making his debut at the Games, the 28-year-old’s best effort was a 13.48m throw in the eight-strong field. World No.1 Pramod Bhagat sailed into the men’s singles semifinals after beating Ukraine’s Oleksandr Chyrkov in his second group A match and shooter Rahul Jakhar signed off 5th in the P3 mixed 25m pistol SH1 event.  Indian shuttlers Suhas Yathiraj, Tarun Dhillon and Krishna Nagar opened their men’s singles campaign on an impressive note. Aruna Tanwar was to withdraw from the repechage round of the Paralympics women’s taekwondo K44-49kg class because of severe injuries sustained during her opening bout of the Games despite which she fought in the quarterfinals.
