There is a lot to look forward to in the coming year, not the least of which is the books slated for release.

From memoirs by Gulzar and Ruth Bader Ginsburg to new releases by Nobel Prize winning Kazuo Ishiguro and Anuja Chauhan, there are a plethora of books to pre-order.

Here are ten of them:

1. Justice, Justice Thou Shalt Pursue by Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Amanda L. Tyler (March 2021) 

Described as “tracing the long history of Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s work for gender equality and a ‘more equal union'”, this book is the product of a long period of collaboration between Ginsburg and Amanda L. Tyler, a Berkeley Law Professor and former Ginsburg clerk.

2. Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro (March 2021)

The first novel by Ishiguro since he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2017, this tells the story of Klara, an Artificial Friend with outstanding observational abilities. It offers a look at our changing world through the eyes of an unforgettable narrator, and explores the fundamental question: what does it mean to love?

3. Club you to death by Anuja Chauhan (Summer 2021)

Anuja Chauhan’s new lockdown project (started in January and finished in June), this suspense novel is set in Lutyens’ Delhi and has been described as a ‘whodunit’.

4. Actually…I met them: A Memoir by Gulzar 

Celebrated poet and lyricist Gulzar describes his experiences of working and collaborating with other stalwarts such as Satyajit Ray and RD Barman through memory and candid anecdotes.

5. Run to Win: Lessons in Leadership for Women changing the World by Stephanie Schriok and Christina Reynolds (January 2021)

EMILY’s List President Stephanie Schriok and VP of Communications Christina Reynolds come together to create a guide on how to run for office and win. The books also includes a foreword by Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris.  

6. The President’s Daughter by Bill Clinton and James Patterson (June 2021)

A former Navy SEAL and former President of the United States, all Matthew Keating wanted to do was sink into anonymity with his family after an ill-fated military mission cost him a second-term. When he learns of an imminent threat against his daughter, however, he may be forced to apply all that he has learnt as part of his SEAL training. 

7. The Beauty of Living Twice by Sharon Stone (March 2021)

In her new memoir, actor Sharon Stone reflects on her life, from her childhood in Pennsylvania to her work in films such as ‘Basic Instinct’ and Scorsese’s ‘Casino’ to her two marriages and her near-fatal stroke in 2001.

8. The Girls I’ve Been by Tess Sharpe (January 2021)

A psychological thriller, this book follows Nora O’Malley, a daughter of a con artist, who is taken hostage in a bank heist and has to use her wits to pull off the “ultimate con”: escape. The book is soon to be adapted into a Netflix film starring Millie Bobby Brown.

9. Let Me Tell You What I Mean by Joan Didion 

From renowned American essayist and author, comes this new collection of twelve never-read-before essays from the earliest part of Didion’s five-decade long career. 

10. Nick by Michael Farris Smith (January 2021)

A fictional account of Nick Caraway’s life before Gatsby, critically acclaimed novelist Michael Farris Smith imagines Caraway’s journey from the trenches of the Great War to Paris, to New Orleans and beyond.
