Three women farmers were killed and two others injured after a truck hit them near the Tikri border in Haryana’s Bahadurgarh early Thursday, PTI reported quoting police.

According to ANI, the incident took place at Pakoda chowk at 5:30 am where the women were waiting on the road for transport to go to the railway station to board a train to Mansa, Punjab when they were hit by a truck. As per the agency, the truck lost control.

According to PTI, the women had participated in the farmers’ protest against the Centre’s Agri laws at the Tikri border, the women were returning to their village in the Mansa district of Punjab.

The truck driver fled from the spot after the accident, the police said.

The deceased were identified as Chhinder Kaur (60), Amarjeet Kaur (58) and Gurmail Kaur (60). They belonged to Kheeva Dyaluwala village in Mansa district.

The injured persons were rushed to PGI Rohtak, the police said.

Hundreds of women have been participating in the ongoing farmers’ protest on the outskirts of Delhi.

Meanwhile, a group of farmers from Hind Mazdoor Kisan Samiti on Wednesday alleged that they were stopped and lathi-charged by the Delhi Police in the Narela area while going towards the Singhu border to demand justice for Lakhbir Singh, who was lynched at the farmers’ protest site for alleged sacrilege.

According to police, the group claiming to be a part of a farmers’ association created a ruckus near the Singhu border after some of their front cadres started pushing people.

They claimed to have come from Uttar Pradesh and it appeared that they wanted to go towards the Singhu border. When asked, they did not share the exact reason for their visit, a senior police officer said.
