Author and Historian, Tom Holland took a sharp jab at the new Narendra Modi for naming a stadium after himself. However, Indian netizens confused him with Tom Holland, star of Spiderman. The hilarious confusion led to some interesting posts on Twitter.

Yesterday, the author Tom Holland shared a tweet where he sarcastically praised Narendra Modi for being so ‘humble’ and naming a stadium after himself.

“I’m a huge admirer of the modesty Modi showed in naming the world’s largest cricket stadium after himself.”

He added another tweet saying,

“Not always a good sign for countries when leaders start pulling that trick…”

This was enough to draw the attention of some people who confused the author, who has never posted anything about Indian politics before, with the Spiderman actor. The other half of Indian Twitter reacted hilariously when they realised the mess-up some people were making.

Most people predicted that Boycott Spiderman would now trend on Twitter because of the misplaced identities. Some even jokingly said that this was a strategy by DC to cut Marvel’s revenue from India. The meme parade soon started with people reacting hilariously to this incident.
