Samajhwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav claimed that the BJP is anxious and will be eliminated in the Uttar Pradesh. The state votes in the third phase on Sunday. The voter turnout in UP was 21.18% as of 11 AM.

As many as 627 candidates are in the fray in this phase, in which over 2.15 crore people are eligible to vote.

Yadav, who is contesting from Karhal, in an exclusive interview with NDTV said that his  party has hit a century in the first two phases. 

“We have hit a Century in first two phases and even in the next two phases, the Samajwadi Party alliance will be ahead of everyone else,” Akhilesh Yadav told NDTV after casting his vote in Jaswantnagar.

He further said that most of the seats going to polls this time are from Bundelkhand and the BJP has stopped developemnt there.

“The maximum number of unemployed youths are here. The maximum number of labourers who came back during lockdown and suffered, are here. The income of farmers has not doubled. From Bundelkhand till here, the BJP has stopped development, snatched jobs,” the SP chief added.

On Saturday,  Yadav equated the mowing down of farmers in UP’s Lakhimpur Kheri with the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and said on coming to power, his government will act against people shielding perpetrators of the crime.

The districts where polling is being held are Hathras, Firozabad, Etah, Kasganj, Mainpuri, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Etawah, Auraiya, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Jalaun, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Hamirpur and Mahoba.
