From cloud bursts to landslides, Uttarakhand often bears the brunt of natural disasters including excessive rainfalls and the state’s higher education minister Dhan Singh Rawat says he’s got a solution. Rawat created the headlines on Monday when a video clip of him saying that an application was being developed to regulate excess rainfall went viral on social media.

In a short video clip that first surfaced on Twitter, Rawat can be heard saying that an app is being developed which can help regulate and distribute excessive rainfall in a place. Here’s the video.

He also added that he will soon make a presentation about the app before the Central government. He said that the application would be of great use to states if the Centre gives its approval.

Twitter users expressed surprise over the video, wondering if the minister was serious while making the statement. However, it was not clear when or where the video was made.

One Twitter user shared a snapshot-like image of an app with the title “Baarish Aage Peeche Karne Wala Yantra” by Dhan Singh Rawat.

Another user asked the minister if he would tender his resignation via an app or will opt for the old way of re-elections.

Dhan Singh Rawat is the cabinet minister of Uttarakhand. He is a member of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party. Singh currently holds the state’s Education ministry, Medical Health and Medical Education and Disaster Management portfolios.
