The Kottayam area in Kerala awoke to a flood-ravaged landscape on Saturday as constant heavy rains lashed the streets of the district and its nearby areas. A red alert has already been issued in five districts of Kerala while an orange alert was put in seven other districts in view of incessant rain and the flood-like situation reported ANI.

Visuals coming from the district shows residents attempting to pass through the waterlogged streets while another video clip shows a group of men trying to pull a submerged vehicle out of water.

Several visuals released by other media outlets including NDTV shows a bus stuck in a waterlogged street with passengers struggling to come out. The clip has perfectly captured the horror of untimely rains in the southern state.
Meanwhile, several social media users also shared video clips and images featuring the havoc wreak by rains in different parts of Kerala.
A Twitter user posted a video that his friend suggest shows Kerala’s one of the busiest Mundakkayam bridges completely submerged in water as vehicles try to pass through.

Visuals from Idukki district shows a forest-like area completely ravaged following heavy rains with trees and plantation facing a huge loss.
About the security alerts, the five districts where the administration has issued red alerts are Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki and Thrissur. The orange alerts is issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alapuzha, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad district.

Meanwhile, the Indian Army had deployed its personnel and rescue force in the rain-affected area of Kerala. One column consists of 1Officer, 2JCOs and 30 other ranks of army personnel already moved to Kanjirappalli, Kottayam District from Pangode Military Station along with necessary equipment, said Spokesperson Defence, Trivandrum.
