Maharashtra won the toss and chose to bat first in their second Elite Group D fixture at Jaipur’s KL Saini Ground, with Nahar (119) and Kazi (104) pulling Maharashtra through to a respectable total of 279/9 after Mumbai pacer Dhawal Kulkarni (5/44) tore through their top-order.
Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad (19) failed to convert after a promising start as he was trapped in the crease by Kulkarni. The 32-year-old seamer then dismissed Naushad Shaikh (0), Kedar Jadhav (5) and Ankit Bawane (0) in quick succession as Maharashtra were reeling at 38/4 after just 8.5 overs.

However, Nahar and number six batsman Kazi dug deep and gave Maharashtra a fighting chance with their mammoth 214 run-stand for the fifth wicket.
Nahar struck seven fours and sixes maximums, while Kazi hammered 12 boundaries and two sixes. Nahar was run out by Shams Mulani with the score at 264/6, following which Maharashtra were able to add only 15 runs.
Chasing 280, Mumbai openers Yashasvi Jaiswal (40) and Prithvi Shaw (34) scored 67 for the first wicket.

Iyer, who walked in at three, was in his element and hammered nine boundaries and one six in his unbeaten knock and found able partners in Suryakumar Yadav (29) and Shivam Dube (47) after Jaiswal perished.
Dube took the game away from Maharashtra, smashing five fours and a six, and took Mumbai to the cusp of victory. The formalities were completed by Iyer with Sarfaraz Khan (15) on strike.
